Thanks to all for your comments and for asking about my move, etc. I'm sorry I haven't updated till now but I don't have a computer at my house and I can't do this at work, so I have to get it done when I'm at my parents house. I tried to get here last week, but had to wait for my fridge to be delivered and you know how that kind of thing goes - they never get there when they're supposed to!! But I did get the fridge and now I can eat real food.

I would love for you to come out and see the house, so send me an e-mail and let me know when you want to come (but please give me two or three more weeks to get some things up on the walls, etc. lol).

Here are pictures of what I got done the first week. I haven't done much more this week as a lot of other things have been going on.

Here are the living room, the dining room and the kitchen:

My bedroom, the area in my room next to the bathroom (same wall as the dresser is on) and one of the walls in my wonderfully large walk-in closet (my favorite room in the house!!!):

My craft/scrapbook room (going to take awhile to get this and the other bedroom set up) and the loft:

And yes, Angie, it is big enough for a neice and nephew sleep over - we've had one already!! It was great fun!!

I closed!!!!!!!!!!! It didn't happen yesterday cuz the rural housing approval didn't go through because the USDA's computers were down all day. I should be able to have my final walk through and get my keys either Thursday or Friday and then move in on SAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sunday, February 22, 2009

I close tomorrow, so should be able to move on Sat.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had my walk through yesterday and it went well. There are a few minor things that need to be fixed or changed and several little spots that need to be touched up with paint, but nothing major that can't be completed by next week. I am waiting now to hear from my loan lady as to when my closing will be (hopefully Mon or Tues) and then a couple of days later I can have my final walk through (hopefully Thurs) and get the keys to my house so I can start moving in furniture (hopefully Sat).

They had just put in all of the shelving right before my walk through. This is the pantry:

They got the outlet taken care of for the dishwasher, so it was in:

The sinks are all in:

and the toilets. This is my bathroom:

And this is the guest bathroom:

This is one wall of my closet:

And this is the other wall. The shelves are really high so I think I'm going to have someone lower them for me. I can't afford to buy a stool for every closet!!

This is what the other two bedroom closets look like:

Hopefully my next update will be moving pictures!!!!!!!!!

This week they made some really good progress; we got some real stairs with a rail for the back door:

We have carpet:

The counter tops are done - but no sinks (or toilets):

The oven and stove are in:

The dishwasher is there - but no outlet to plug it into!!!:

The lights all work:

And I now have a red door and front steps:

I guess it does look a little more finished with the door painted red so I think I'll keep it that way.
So far the walk through is still on for Wed. Hopefully they have the sinks and toilets in, the shelving in all of the closests and an outlet for the dishwasher by then. Other than that it's really starting to look like my house!!!!!!!!!

We've made some good progress this week. The painting is done. The cupboards are in:

The doors are all up:

The vinyl part of the flooring is done:

And the light fixtures are all in.

Now all that needs to be done is the carpet, the counter tops, the kitchen appliances, the sinks and toilets and the shelves in the closets. They haven't changed my walk through date yet, so I'm still planning on the 18th.

I've been sick since Friday afternoon, so haven't made it out to my house, but I finally got some good news from my builder. They have scheduled my walk through for the 18th of this month!!!!!!! Finally!!! Given the timing of all of the closing procedures I am planning (but not putting it in stone) to move on the 28th. This will give me some time to go in and do some major cleaning (I'm a little picky about the way my things are cleaned - I know dumb, hu?) and have everything all organized so the move flows smoothly (hopefully!)

Brenda called me on Monday and said that it looked like the painting had been done and that the cupboards had been delivered. Brad called later that day and confirmed that the painting had been done, most of the light switches and fixtures had been put in and yes, the boxes in the garage were in fact the cupboards, so I'm hoping they will all be put in by the time I go out there on Sat.

Ok, here's the lastest. I have been waiting to post pictures so I could include a final completion date, but they seem to be avoiding that subject. They have told me that they missed about 5 or so days, but actually they have missed more because of the holidays, so it won't be till the middle or end of Feb.

They do have the walls inside done. When I went on the 17th they had all of them up and were putting the metal things on the corners.

When I went back on the 24th they had done the taping and covering of the nails,

and had a funky design on the ceilings.

This is the mess they're making in my kitchen,

and these are the tools that they used to make the funky design.

They got the thing above the top window put on (I found out it is called an eyebrow), so the outside looks finished.

Let me know what you think about the front door. Should I keep it white or should I let them paint it red?

It's supposed to be red, but I'm thinking I might ask them not to paint it. I don't know for sure. Help me decide, please!!!!!

OK, I know it's been awhile since I updated this so you'll have to be patient with me as there are a lot of pictures to show. First though, I would like to wish everybody a Happy New Year and hope that your holidays were the best. The holidays were the best for me as we had the whole fam damily here so it was lots of fun!!!

Well, I went out to my brothers in Eagle Mountain for New Year's Eve and by the time we got there it was dark so I couldn't see anything on my house, but figured they hadn't done much since the week before had been slim pickins. But when we got to Brad's he told me that they had the siding done on the north side so I asked him if he had a flashlight and told everybody I was going for a walk. There were others who wanted to see it so Brandon, Nikki, Brad, Brenda and I went over to see it and sure enough, there was siding. It looked kind of green in the dark, but Brad said it was definitely blue and called it the Smurf House!

They also had all of the inside doors sitting in the garage.

We walked around inside the house, but nothing else had been done, so no more pictures were taken. Well I went back on Friday the 2nd to babysit Brenley, Haley, Camden and baby C (can't say his name since he's a foster child) and was able to watch the siding on the back of the house being put on. I first drove by to see the color in the light and sure enough it was blue!!

This is the view from the back that I got from my truck:

When I got to Brad's I put my camera in the window in his living room and turned on the video every half hour or so and this is the progression that I was able to see:

It started getting dark as they were finishing up, so this one is pretty blurry:

On my way home I stopped to get a close up of the finished product. They still hadn't finished the front so that was to come later.

Yesterday (the 10th) I went back out and to my surprise saw this:

I didn't expect all of the red on top. I thought the blue was going to go all the way to the top, but I really like it!!! It's very Red, White and BLUE.

Here's a closer shot of the front:

I took my friend Saranya out with me and she said it looks like a Barbie Doll house.

We went inside and had to go around the workers, but they were really nice and let us walk around. The bath tubs are were they're supposed to be:

The ceilings and walls were being worked on as we were walking around:

We then went back outside and saw Brad drive up then a couple of minutes later, Mom and Dad drove up and then Craig came along. We had a family reunion right there in the street. After we talked for awhile Saranya and I got a closer look at the front.

If you can, click on the picture above so you can enlarge it and see the detail of the thing on top of the window (I don't know what it's called?!?!) but it's kind of cool looking!

The red shingles make me think of something you would put on a bird house. If this were yellow I would expect Big Bird to come walking out!!!

This is me in front of MY Barbie Doll, Bird HOUSE!!! Hopefully by this time next month I will be inside, decorating!!!!!!!

Thanks for visiting my post. Hopefully soon I can have you visit the real thing!!
